It seems a mosaic. But it’s not made with tesserae, the elements that usually build up a mosaic, but with the gaps that stays in between the tesserae, the interstices.

So, this mosaic without tesserae or title, it is a pure escape, as if the tesserae had escaped, consumed or stolen, leaving the space that once occupied to a play of shadows.
From another point of view, more in terms of the unconscious, it is an escape from the past, further ruined by the present; it is a detachment from the rigidity of the support to float in a poetic and fragile dimension.

This work can also be defined as a sculpture that simulates the mosaic, which for centuries has been a slave to the other arts, an imitation of painting. So this is a small revenge of the mosaic: transforming itself from an applicative technique to a key of autonomous expression, to be imitated in turn.
